This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly specialised engineering company developing bespoke, cutting-edge electronic systems.

Working within a prototype and R&D environment, you’ll be involved in the build of high-specification wiring assemblies and play an important part in supporting both Engineering and Production teams.

If you enjoy hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and varied builds where every project is different — this role offers a fantastic environment to develop your skills.

Why join?

  • Work on varied prototype and development builds — not repetitive production work
  • Flexible working hours around core times
  • Paid overtime or time off in lieu (up to approximately 24 extra days per year)
  • Excellent pension contribution package (up to 14% combined contribution)
  • Private medical insurance
  • Ongoing technical training and development opportunities (including IPC training)
  • Friendly, collaborative engineering environment where your ideas and input are valued

Key Responsibilities

  • Building prototype wiring looms, harnesses, and cable assemblies
  • Routing, wiring, and terminating D-sub (D-type) connectors
  • Soldering, crimping, and carrying out detailed bench assembly work
  • Assembling electro-mechanical products from engineering drawings and schematics
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs, and technical drawings
  • Supporting new product development and engineering change activities
  • Carrying out modifications, rework, and updates during prototype stages
  • Performing basic inspection and electrical checks, including continuity testing
  • Working closely with engineers to resolve build issues and improve assembly processes
  • Following technical instructions, build documentation, and test procedures

What They’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electro-mechanical assembly
  • Ability to read and understand schematic and wiring diagrams
  • Experience wiring and terminating D-sub (D-type) connectors
  • Strong soldering and crimping skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
  • Good practical bench assembly skills

Desirable Experience

  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-A-620 certification or experience
  • Experience working in a prototype, R&D, or low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Basic electrical testing experience using multimeters or continuity testing equipment
  • Mechanical assembly experience
